(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A man arrested and charged with setting fires Monday at a community center for autistic students and their families turns out to be the owner of a competing business.

Police have arrested Samuel Powers after investigators found Molotov Cocktail-like devices and the remnants of a fire that was put out by the sprinkler system when they arrived at Sport Social, a south Valley center on Windy Street Monday morning. Powers was seen leaving the building at the time of the fire by witnesses. Damage to the building was estimated at $50,000.

Powers told police he works at the Lovas Center for Behavioral Intervention which is a competing business. He’s charged with first degree arson and burglary.

Officials say the Las Vegas Autism Sport-Social Center serves over 200 local children and their families.
