(Las Vegas, NV) — The United Way is open today with free tax filing assistance for families that brought in less than $51,000 last year.

A United Way spokesman says many families don’t know that they’re eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit of up to $6,000.

More than 200 Internal Revenue Service-certified volunteers available for the free tax preparation at more than 3 dozen locations around town.

If you go, you’ll need to bring along valid identification along with Social Security information for yourself, your spouse and any dependents you might have. You’ll also need all of your relevant tax papers.

For a list of locations and more information visit the United Way’s website.
