Trial Set In Hit Man Murder

(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–George Tiaffay, the former firefighter accused of hiring the man who bludgeoned Tiaffay’s wife to death with a hammer last year, will go to trial on murder charges in February of 2014.

A judge rejected arguments from Tiffay’s attorney who said prosecutors provided improper evidence to a grand jury and that the hit man, who has since pleaded guilty, is not to be believed.

Tiaffay is accused of hiring a homeless handyman, Noel Stevens, to kill Shawna Tiaffa, who was found dead in her Summerlin residence last September. Stevens later confessed to the killing and implicated Tiaffay.

Attorney Robert Langford told KXNT’s Brian Shapiro, “The state’s evidence is horrific. Its crazy Its crazy. Nobody in a million years would believe what this guy is saying. Now just keep an open mind.”
