(Las Vegas, NV) — Two lawmakers want the Obama administration to deny a loan to build a high-speed train between Las Vegas and Victorville, California.
Congressman Paul Ryan and Senator Jeff Sessions have called on Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to deny the $5.5 billion loan for XpressWest, calling it “another costly, wasteful and risky high-speed rail project.”
CEO Anthony Marnell says the 185-mile high-speed train would create thousands of jobs and serve as the basis of an express rail system for the West Coast.
The Federal Railroad Association is still considering the loan.
