PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Nye County deputies say they’ve arrested a man who told them he’d killed his neighbor and left the body out for coyotes.
Authorities say they got a call Thursday from a distraught Peter Jason Helfrich, who told them he’d “done a terrible thing” the evening before.
Detectives say they did an extensive search and eventually found the man’s body in a ravine in Wheeler Pass in Clark County.
The dead man’s name has not yet been made public.
Deputies say they arrested Helfrich on suspicion of murder, destroying evidence, battery and conspiracy. He’s being held without bail in the Nye County jail.
Investigators say they’re also looking for Silvia Castillo, who they believe helped Helfrich in the crime.
