The Clark County School District has had tens of millions of dollars slashed from its budget in recent years.
However, its police force has remained steady in an effort to keep the 357 schools safe.
On a daily basis the CCSDPD’s daily jurisdictional population is approximately 350,000-500,000 people.
Captain Ken Young told KXNT how the staff has adjusted over the years. “For the most part our staffing has remained the same, but we would like to add more officers. What we do is we diversify how we patrol. Our primary focus over the last two years is elementary and middle schools.”
The CCSDPD is comprised of more than 200 personnel and is the 7th largest in Nevada.
The department now has a mobile command center that it will take to events with the capabilities of running the entire department from a remote location.
