(Las Vegas, NV) — A study on improving the Las Vegas Fire Department has been completed.
The city-sponsored report has nearly two-dozen recommendations, including changes to the way medical patients are transported.
One option would allow private ambulance firms to take over, while another would have the fire department handle all cases and collect the transport revenue.
City Administrators hope the recommendations will help control the department’s budget, which has increased by 43% since 2004.
The study had been criticized by the firefighters union.
