Election Results

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada’s 2012 general election becomes official when the state Supreme Court convenes Tuesday to certify the results. More than 1 million Nevadans cast ballots in the Nov. 6 election, for a record voter turnout of nearly 81 percent.

Nevada voters again backed President Obama, and retained Republican U.S. Sen. Dean Heller after a bitter campaign against Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley.

Republican Rep. Joe Heck was elected to a second term, while former Rep. Dina Titus, a Democrat who lost to Heck two years ago, won a different seat to return to Congress.

Former state Senate majority leader Steven Horsford becomes the first black to be elected to Congress from Nevada. The Las Vegas Democrat defeated Republican Danny Tarkanian to represent Nevada’s newly created 4th Congressional District.
