(Las Vegas, NV) – Secretary of State Ross Miller wants to prosecute a conservative political action group for violating Nevada’s campaign finance laws.
Miller has sent a letter to Americans for Prosperity, citing the PAC’s mailers accusing Democratic Assemblyman Kelvin Atkinson of working for special interests. The mailers, sent during the primary, urged voters to call Atkinson’s office.
Under Nevada law, if an ad seeks the defeat of a candidate, the group must disclose who donated money for the mailers.
The issue is unlikely to be resolved before next month’s election.
