Casino Loses Comp Meal Tax Battle
(Carson City, NV) — The state has refused to refund over $15 million in sales taxes to Station Casinos for free meals it handed out to guests and employees.
It’s the latest battle over comped meals between the Department of Taxation and Nevada’s casinos. Rivals Boyd Gaming and Caesars Entertainment have already been turned down for a tax refund.
The attorney general’s office claims the free meals are taxable, but the casinos disagree.
Observers believe the last word will come from the Nevada Supreme Court.
