LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County residents will get a chance to adopt a wild burro on Saturday.
The Bureau of Land Management is holding an open adoption event at Oliver Ranch in Red Rock Canyon.
It will be the first burro-only adoption event in the county in more than five years.
The animals were gathered from the Blue Diamond area.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the BLM expects to have about 30 burros to offer for adoption.
BLM wild horse and burro specialist Krystal Johnson says many of the animals are used to human contact, and people often adopt them as pets or pack animals.
Johnson says people looking to adopt must be 18 and demonstrate they can care for the animal.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
