Accident Raises Bus Stop Safety Questions
(Las Vegas, NV) Thursday’s deadly accident has raised new questions about the safety of bus stops in the Vegas Valley.
Over the past several years, the Regional Transportation Commission has moved to set new bus stops and shelters away from the street. But many older bus stops can’t be moved because of private property issues.
Another proposal involved building concrete masses around bus shelters, but some feared they would become projectiles in a crash and the idea was dropped.
