(Carson City, NV)  —  A coal-fired power plant outside Las Vegas will continue to operate.

The “Sun” reports the EPA has allowed NV Energy to keep the Reid Gardner plant open, if devices are installed to improve air quality.

Senator Harry Reid and several environmental groups had called for the closure of Reid Gardner, due to complaints about haze.

The plant provides enough electricity for more than 300,000 Nevada homes.
