(Las Vegas, NV) — The Las Vegas City Council approved a key redevelopment project Wednesday that will alter the area of West Charleston, Decatur and both sides of West Sahara.
The 5-2 vote came after each member passionately expressed their concerns for and against the project.
Councilman Steve Ross talked about the economics of the project.”For every one dollar of public investment we make in redevelopment we get about $18 gollars back in private investment.”
Mayor Carolyn Goodman, who has lived in the area for 37 years believes the area needs to be improved. “I worry about if we don’t do anything, how bad is it gonna get.”
Councilmen Bob Beers and Stavros Anthony voted against the project
