Las Vegas – The Las Vegas Locos are coming back for another season. Head Coach Jim Fassel announced Wednesday at a press conference, that the UFL and the Locos will be back for a 4th season. The first game is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19th against the Sacramento Mountain Lions.
The league will consist of four teams Vegas, Sacramento, Virginia and Omaha with an eight game schedule that is to be televised on CBS Sports Network.
There are still a few things to work out before the season can get underway, including a venue to play and bills to be paid. The league had to cut the season in half last year due to money problems and still owes some players and coaching staff around the league back pay.
Coach Fassel says the team is in talks with both Cashman Field and Sam Boyd as potential venues and believes they’ll have a deal worked out by early next week. Coach Fassel went on to say that the league is still working out its financial issues but will have all its debts paid off before the season starts.
UFL spokesman Larry Weisman announced Wednesday that Bart Andrus is the new coach of the Omaha Nighthawks. Andrus was the team’s offensive coordinator in 2011. Former NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer is returning to coach last year’s champion Virginia Destroyers and Sacramento is still in the process of hiring and new coach for the 2012 season.
