(Las Vegas, NV)  —  A former civilian contractor at Nellis Air Force Base has been indicted on charges she ran a breast implant scam.

Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto’s office says 31-year-old Shanita Flax allegedly listed patients’ cosmetic enhancement surgeries as breast cancer cases, then pocketed nearly $20,000 from patients and a government insurance policy.

Flax worked at the base’s hospital from 2008 through 2010.

She faces 18 counts of theft.
