Talk Of Death Threats Opens Wayne Newton Lawsuit Hearing

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Talk of death threats opened a Nevada state court hearing that could lead to the eviction of Las Vegas Strip entertainer Wayne Newton and his wife from the opulent home they’ve lived in since 1968.

With the “Danke Schoen” crooner and estranged business partner-turned-landlord Steven Kennedy both in court for the Monday hearing, Newton lawyer J. Stephen Peek lost a request for beefed-up courtroom security.

Peek claims Kennedy, of CSD LLC, has threatened him, Newton and Newton’s wife, Kathleen, among others.

Kennedy attorney Charles McCrea Jr. denies threats were made, or that extra security is needed.

Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez says she’s satisfied courthouse security is sufficient.

The Newtons and Kennedy have traded allegations of breach of contract, fraud, mismanagement, animal abuse and sexual harassment.
