CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Democrats have expanded their voter registration lead over Republicans in the battleground state of Nevada.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that new numbers released last week by the Secretary of State’s Office show Democrats have increased their advantage over Republicans to 47,500 voters.
That compares with Democrats’ statewide 44,179 voter edge over Republicans early this month.
Since April, Democratic voter registration has increased by 20,500 and Republican registration has climbed by 9,700.
Nevada GOP officials say they expect to gain on Democrats because of $166,000 in national money recently given to the state party for voter registration efforts.
The more than 175,000 nonpartisan voters will play a key role in the outcome of November’s election.
