Las Vegas – North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck is letting residents know the city will be alright even though they had to make some major cuts to balance the budget. At a community meeting last night, Buck told everyone the city cannot file for bankruptcy as Nevada law doesn’t allow it. The mayor also says safety is a top priority as no police or firefighters have been laid off. The city faced a 33-million dollar budget gap this fiscal year. In order to balance it the city moved its jail and inmates to the Las Vegas Detention Center and declared a financial emergency to suspend parts of union contracts.
