RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 31-year-old man has been arrested after Reno police say he pretended to be a woman on Craigslist personal ads and sexually assaulted people he met through the site.

Police say David Schmitt was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexual assault and coercion.

Authorities say Schmitt pretended to be a woman seeking other women on Internet personal ads. Police say that after the alleged victims contacted Schmitt and gave him personal information, he’d set up meetings and blackmail them into engaging in sex acts with him.

Police say that Schmitt would force himself onto those who didn’t cooperate with him.

Authorities also say Schmitt researched his alleged victims on Facebook and other sites.

Reno officials say there may be more victims who haven’t come forward.
