Laughlin Voters Turn Down Incorporation

(Las Vegas, NV) — Laughlin residents are not yet ready to have their community become a city.

Residents in the gaming town south of Las Vegas rejected an incorporation measure yesterday by a 57-percent to 43-percent margin. Opponents argued taxes would have gone up to pay for police, fire and other expenses now funded by Clark County.

Incorporation supporters may try again in 2014.
