(Washington, DC)  —  Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is blasting Republicans for blocking a bill that would have kept student loan interest rates from going up.  Democrats supported the measure, which would have funded the rate drop with adjustments in corporate tax rates.

Reid accused Republicans of protecting “wealthy tax dodgers.”  The GOP wanted to fund the measure by dipping into a preventive medicine fund.  Student loan interest rates will double if there’s no action by the end of June.
