Metro Police Get Budget Bump
(Las Vegas, NV) — Metro Police will have slightly more money to spend. The department’s fiscal affairs committee has approved a $502-million budget for the new fiscal year that begins in July. It calls for using reserve money to cover funding shortages, and pay concessions from police officers. The budget calls for no layoffs, but will eliminate hundreds of now-open positions. It still must be approved by Clark County and the city of Las Vegas, which fund 60% of Metro’s operating budget.
