(CBS LAS VEGAS KXNT ) Highway workers and the Nevada Highway Patrol are reminding drivers that roadway work zones can be dangerous places. Drivers who speed, make last minute lane changes, and use hand-held devices are the biggest threat.
NHP Trooper Jeremy Elliott joined transportation department workers on a patially- constructed freeway bridge Monday morning to kick off Work Zone Safety Week. Elliott issued a warning that fines are doubled for traffic violations committed in a highway work zone.
NDOT employees donned flourescent vests and posed with new orange signs that caution: “Please slow down, my dad works here,” and “Please slow down, my mom works here.”
