(Las Vegas, NV) – Starting today Allegiant Air will slap a $35 fee on you if you decide to stow your bag in the overhead compartment.
The Las Vegas based company expressing continued concern about the economy and fuel costs will charge between 15-30 if bags are checked online. Spirit Airlines began charging for use of the overhead bin two years ago. Southwest allows two bags for free, Jet Blue has a one-bag policy.
The new policy by Allegiant still allows passengers to bring aboard a small personal bag that must fit under the seat.
Larger carry-ons, with a maximum weight of 25 pounds, will trigger the new fee.
