LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police are teaching parents how to protect their children from sexual predators lurking online.
The open house-style talks are set at 7 p.m. tonight at Las Vegas area command offices. It’s part of the department’s First Tuesday community outreach program.
Detectives from the sexual assault unit will discuss the dangers of social media and ways parents can make the Internet a safer place for children. Residents will also have a chance to meet the officers that patrol their neighborhood.
The events kick off April’s National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
