LAS VEGAS (AP) — AAA is offering free rides home for Nevada residents who drink a little too much green beer on St. Patrick’s Day.
Drivers, party hosts, bartenders and other residents can call AAA anytime between 6 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday to request a Tipsy Tow for themselves or someone else.
A truck will tow the car and transport the driver up to 10 miles one way for free. Tipsy Tow users don’t need to be AAA members.
Tipsy Tow is an effort to curb drunken driving crashes, which accounted for about 36 percent of highway deaths of people age 16 to 24 in the year 2008.
It also helps drivers avoid a DUI conviction that could cost them thousands of dollars.
AAA’s phone number is (800) AAA-HELP, or (800) 222-4357.
