LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former Las Vegas mayor and mob defense attorney Oscar Goodman is being honored in Las Vegas with a bronze bust.
The sculpture by South Dakota artist Benjamin Victor is set to be unveiled Monday afternoon in Tribute Plaza at downtown Las Vegas’ Symphony Park, a redevelopment area that includes a new performing arts center.
The tribute also features a wall highlighting Goodman’s accomplishments during his three terms in office. He stepped down last year after he was term-limited from seeking four more years at City Hall.
Private donations funded the $150,000 Goodman project.
The sculpture joins two others honoring philanthropists Donald W. Reynolds and Fred and Mary Smith.
Goodman’s wife, Carolyn Goodman, was elected last year to replace him. She is scheduled to attend the unveiling ceremony.
