Vermillion Says Police Raided Her Home
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Henderson city councilwoman says police obtained correspondence with her publicist and her lawyer during a search of her home in an extortion probe.
Kathleen Vermillion told the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/xeZ48B ) after the Wednesday raid that she is cooperating with police.
The investigation is about whether she demanded $3.9 million from her ex-boyfriend, Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak, after filing a lawsuit accusing him of improperly making her medical records public.
Vermillion has since dropped the lawsuit. She says she’s confident she won’t be charged.
The development is the latest in a tangled public dispute also involving a federal probe of whether Vermillion misused Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth funds before she was fired by the charity. She started the organization a decade ago.
