San Diego - The 12th ranked Runnin’ Rebels struggled all day against the 22nd ranked San Diego St. Aztecs, but with 23 seconds remaining in the second half, trailing 67-66, Bryce Massamba was fouled. After missing the first free throw, Massamba nailed the second to tie the game at 67. But that didn’t last long as the Aztecs drove down the floor and kicked the ball to sophomore guard Jamaal Franklin, who hit a short jumper with .03 seconds remaining to win the game 69-67.
The Rebels posted a poor shooting performance making just 24-of-68 shots, including 8-for-27 from the 3 pt. line. Anthony Marshall led the way for the Rebels in the loss with 26 points and 8 boards, while Mike Moser added 9 points and 12 rebounds.
The Rebels drop to 16 -3 on the year and open up conference play at 0-1. The loss marks the 6th straight to the Aztecs and 10 out of the last 11. UNLV is back home to face TCU on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas and Mack
