LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles has a message for motorists this holiday weekend: Please stay away.
Director Bruce Breslow says the Monday after Thanksgiving is traditionally the department’s busiest day of the year, with wait times easily tripling to two hours or longer.
Breslow says motorists planning on going into a DMV office Monday should delay their visit or plan to use an alternative service, such as the state website or self-service kiosks that allow motorists to renew the vehicle registration or print out records.
Breslow says most insurance issues can be handled on the internet or by telephone, while address changes can be completed by mail or fax.
For those who need to visit a DMV office Monday, motorists can check updated wait times on the department’s website.
