Where Does UNLV Rank Among Most Diverse Campuses?
LAS VEGAS (AP) — University of Nevada, Las Vegas is ranking among the most ethnically diverse campuses in the country.
The 2012 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings place the school tenth in the nation for diversity among undergraduates.
Nearly half of UNLV’s 2010 undergraduate student body reported being part of a racial or ethnic minority. Hispanic students make up the largest minority group and comprise nearly 18 percent of the student population.
The annual college rankings rate the nation’s top universities in a variety of categories and use student enrollment data from the 2010-2011 school year.
UNLV President Neal Smatresk says the recognition aligns with the school’s goal of reflecting the diversity of the Las Vegas community.
Topping the diversity list was Rutgers university in New Jersey.
