Vegas Lawyer Posts Bail In Arson-Suicide Case
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A high-profile Las Vegas attorney is out of jail after she was arrested for what authorities say
was an arson-suicide scheme involving her former police officer boyfriend.
District Judge Michelle Leavitt set bail at $50,000 Thursday for Nancy Quon. She was no longer in the Clark County Detention Center Friday.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/qF0jhB ) 51-year-old Quon faces five felony charges in including first-degree arson, conspiracy to commit arson and insurance fraud stemming from a fire Oct. 28.
Prosecutors say the fire to her Las Vegas home was a failed suicide attempt as she tried to escape pressure of a federal investigation of homeowners associations. Quon had gained notoriety filing construction defect lawsuits for the associations.
She has denied burning the house and is set for arraignment Sept. 1
