(Las Vegas, NV — KXNT)  An estimated 75,000 people packed into Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday evening for opening night of the Electric Daisy Festival.  The three night electronic music event features 6 stages and 28 midway rides.

Between 6pm Friday and 6am Saturday:

Metro police report 14 felony arrests. Nine of those were related to the use, sale or trafficking of narcotics.  Additionally, there were 11 misdemeanor arrests and one DUI.

Medic West Ambulance Service says they treated approximately 187 patients for various reasons. Twelve were transported to the hospital.

Local officials are keeping close watch on the event because of the festival’s history of problems.  There were two fatalities at last weekend’s event in Dallas, and Los Angeles dropped the event after a 15-year-old girl died from an overdose of the drug ecstasy at last year’s L.A. stop.

The event continues Saturday and Sunday from 8pm to 6am.
