LAS VEGAS (CBS) - The arrest report with new details into the investigation of the murder of Michael Portaro has been released.
Police say on the night of March 30, Portaro was gunned down in the parking lot of the Tenaya Creek Brewery by Brandon Hill. After an intensive investigation, Hill was charged for the crime on Monday.
According to the report, on the night of April 10, patrol officers tried to stop Hill as he was walking down the street. Hill took off running and officers eventually captured him. During a search, police found a Smith and Wesson revolver. That revolver was later matched to the same weapon used in Portaro’s murder.
Police also served a search warrant on Hill’s home. There they found shoes with blood on them. Police say a DNA match proves the blood was Portaro’s.
Also, at the scene of the crime, police also found a partially-smoked cigarette under Portaro’s leg. Police tested that cigarette and say it contains Hill’s DNA.
Hill is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on murder and robbery charges. He is scheduled to make a court appearance Thursday morning.
