Nevada Congressman Joe Heck is hosting his first town hall with constituents since he called Social Security a pyramid scheme.
The public meeting will be held at an American Legion post in Henderson Wednesday night and will focus on veterans’ issues.
Heck made the Social Security comment at his last town hall in May. He was discussing the sustainability of continuing to pay benefits to people as they live longer.
Heck didn’t apologize when the comment was met with disapproval from his audience.
The Republican freshman has since said he should have used different words to describe the program’s economic future.
Heck has been a favorite Democratic target since he defeated Democratic House member Dina Titus in November.
