LAS VEGAS (AP) — The National Park Service says a 38-year-old Las Vegas man has not been found and is presumed drowned, two days after jumping from a boat into the chilly water of Lake Mead.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area spokesman Andrew Munoz says a search that began late Tuesday would be scaled back to normal patrols if Ruben Aguirre-Martinez wasn’t found Thursday.

Searchers looked late Tuesday and all day Wednesday after Aguirre-Martinez was reported missing.

A passing boater found two other men clinging to one life jacket late Tuesday in the Callville Bay area of the Hoover Dam reservoir east of Las Vegas.

Munoz says Aguirre-Martinez entered the water without a life jacket and drifted away from the other two men while they were all trying to retrieve an inflatable raft.
