(Las Vegas,NV) — Guests spent their last time inside the Sahara hotel this past weekend, before the Vegas Strip resort closes its doors for good today. After nearly 60 years, the Moroccan-themed property is going out of business, a victim of the recession and relative neglect in recent years. But the Sahara leaves behind a rich history.
It was once the hottest hotel in town, drawing everyone from Frank Sinatra to The Beatles. Most of the restaurants and the famed Casbar Lounge are already closed, and the casino will stop accepting bets later this morning.
