(Las Vegas, NV)  –  Former Runnin’ Rebel Dave Rice says he’s glad to be back at UNLV.  The 42-year-old Rice, an assistant coach at BYU, replaces Lon Kruger as head coach of the Rebels basketball team.

Yesterday, Rice said it was his dream job to coach at UNLV.  He also talked about the “Runnin’ Rebel family” and called the Las Vegas campus a quote, “special place.”  Rice paid tribute to former coach Jerry Tarkanian, who led the Rebels to an NCAA championship in 1990.   The Board of Regents must still approve Rice’s hiring, and no details about his contract have been released.

KXNT’s Corey Olson interviewed Coach Rice at the press conference listen below.
