CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers today discuss a bill to allow the Silver State to take the lead on regulating the multibillion-dollar Internet poker industry.

The bill calls on Nevada gambling regulators to create rules for Internet poker operators and companies that make related equipment.

Several casino operators have spoken out against Internet gambling, saying it would harm their business.  Michael Gaughan, owner of Southpoint Hotel & Casino believes the state should sanction online poker.
