Approximately 165 people have been laid off from Las Vegas-based Allegiant Airlines.  An unnamed employee of the company says that the layoffs stem from outsourcing.

A meeting was held yesterday, where workers were told they will be laid off because Allegiant is outsourcing some its work to a third-party company. The affected workers come from ground crews, customer service and gate agents.

All of the affected employees will be given job interviews the third-party company.

The layoffs take effect May 3.
