Linebacker Princeton Jackson, who played with Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Cam Newton at Blinn College in 2009, has committed to UNLV. The 6-2, 230-pound Jackson is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com. He told the “Review-Journal” that he learned a lot from Newton’s example during the quarterback’s one and only season at Blinn, located in Brenham, Texas. Newton transferred to Auburn before last season, where he not only won the Heisman but led the Tigers to an undefeated season and the national championship. Jackson also stars on the baseball diamond, and may be a two-sport athlete at UNLV. He told the R-J that he turned down a professional contract offer from the Washington Nationals coming out of high school. Jackson added that he hopes to convince his Blinn teammate, offensive lineman Josh McNeill, to join the Rebels as well. McNeill has previously visited UNLV.
