UNLV Football Players Suspended
Two returning seniors on UNLV’s football team, safety Mike Clausen and wide receiver Michael Johnson, have been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. Head Coach Bobby Hauck handed down the suspensions this week, but did not specify the violations. The school says there will be no further comment on the suspensions. Both players will miss all of spring practice which starts February 28th, but Hauck did not say if the suspensions will extend into fall training camp or the regular season.
Clausen was UNLV’s starting quarterback in the opener last year, but later moved to safety where he appeared in 12 games, starting four. He finished with 31 tackles, one interception, and a fumble return for touchdown. Johnson started 11 games last year and was the Rebels’ leading receiver, with 51 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns.
