The students involved say it was a joke. But officials in Northern Nevada have taken seriously the online actions of six girls.
They have been arrested after students were invited on Facebook to take part in an “Attack a Teacher Day” at two middle schools. One student is accused of inviting about 100 students to the Facebook posting, the “attack,” which was never defined, was to take place Friday between the hours of 7-9 a.m. at Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley Middle School. The other five are accused of responding with online threats against specific teachers. The Nevada Appeal newspaper reports the girls were booked last week at juvenile hall on a misdemeanor charge of communicating threats. Carson City School Superintendent Richard Stokes said five of the students each received a three-day suspension, and one student received a five-day suspension.
