Clark County has a new manager.
Commissioners on Monday voted to name Don Burnette as the replacement for Virginia Valentine, who left the county to head the Nevada Resort Association. Burnette has been with the county since 1990, and had been the chief administrative officer. Two commissioners voted against Burnette’s appointment, saying they wanted to conduct a nationwide search for the post. Also at Monday’s meeting, new Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow was sworn into office. She replaces Rory Reid, who chose not to seek a third term last year. Incumbent Susan Brager was named chairwoman of the seven-member commission, a post that was held by Reid.
