A federal appeals court in San Francisco will hear an appeal today of Proposition 8.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals three-judge panel will consider an appeal put forth by supporters of the voter-approved ballot initiative banning gay marriage in California. In August, U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker overturned Prop 8 on grounds it violates the U.S. Constitution. Walker’s ruling cited violations of constitutional rights to equal treatment and due process. That ruling, however, was stayed during the current appeal.
