rypien3851 Player Suspended for Fan Incident

Vancouver Canucks forward Rick Rypien has been suspended by the NHL for his altercation with a fan during a game at Minnesota this week. The league announced the suspension Wednesday, but indicated it will have no further comment until the matter is resolved. The incident happened during Tuesday night’s Canucks-Minnesota Wild game at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Rypien was leaving the ice in the second period and heading to the dressing room after a misconduct penalty when he passed a Wild fan along the railing who was applauding the departure. Rypien shoved the fan with both hands in the chest and grabbed his shirt before being pulled away by a teammate. The fan, did not make contact with Rypien or reach beyond the railing, was not injured and was moved to another area of the arena.

  1. Anthony Hopkins says:

I am very sorry to hear that this player was suspended because of an incident with a fan. He should have known that any altercations with fans can get him incarcerated or fined by the NHL!!!! At this time, I hope that he has learned his lesson from the incident itself. I am happy that the series with the Yankees and Rangers is going back to Texas for the remaining 2 games. Go Rangers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also know that the Phillies and the Giants will go down to the wire as well.
