Computer chip manufacturing giant Intel is announcing it will build or reconstruct two plants in Oregon and Arizona.
Intel CEO Paul Otellini explained.
Otellini said the multi-billion dollar investment will build, quote, “faster, cheaper, cooler, smaller chips that go into everything.” He said the newly-announced plan will mean about a thousand permanent new jobs in manufacturing, along with preserving existing workforces in Oregon and Arizona. Thousands of temporary construction jobs will also be generated. The executive said the investment will keep Intel’s manufacturing operations humming in the U.S.
