Nintendo has announced when the new version of its tremendously popular DS handheld game system will be out and how much it will cost.
The company said the Nintendo 3DS will be released in Japan next February at a price point of 25-thousand yen, which amounts to 300 U.S. dollars. Analyst Jesse Divnich of Electronic Entertainment Design and Research explains the higher price for the new device.
He expects the 3DS could be released in North America in March of 2011 at a price point of 250 to 300 dollars. The big draw of the new system will be 3D graphics that don’t require glasses. It will also be able to play 3D movies and take 3D pictures with its two built-in cameras.
