New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was involved in a car accident Thursday morning in suburban Boston but was unhurt and was with the team at practice later in the day. The Patriots confirmed the news on their Twitter feed and added that Brady was not hospitalized. Video on the club’s website showed Brady at a team walkthrough later in the morning. The initial report from Boston radio station WEEI-AM cited sources as saying the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Eastern time near Brady’s home in the Back Bay section of Boston. Brady was reportedly driving an Audi, and the other driver was in a minivan. While Brady did not require medical attention, the other driver reportedly had to be removed from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life and was taken to a nearby hospital. The Patriots open the 2010 season on Sunday at home against Cincinnati.
